Welcome to the Computerized Physician Order Entry(CPOE)Web-based evaluation.
The tool provides hospitals with an assessment of the adequacy of their CPOE system alerts for common, serious prescribing errors.
The CPOE Evaluation is a remote test for use by hospitals and ambulatory care offices to assess their CPOE performance.
The tool requires hospitals to download a series of simulated patients and medication orders, and to add those patient/medication
combinations to the hospital’s CPOE system. Hospitals submit a report on the alerts received at point of order-entry. The reported
alerts are compared against the expected alerts identified by a national research and development panel. A hospital’s score on the
tool is the percentage of correct alerts it received in specific categories.
Only AHRQ-funded research projects will have access to and will research the effectiveness
of the tool.
